MARTIAL ART OF PEACE

Moving Meditation

We focus on the mind-body connection. Aikido is a unique martial art that is often associated with fluid and graceful movements. Aikido builds confidence and strengthens the body by harmonizing the mind, body, and spirit.

Aikido relies on redirecting an attacker’s strike, without using aggression. With proper mental and physical training, a skilled practitioner can quickly neutralize an attack while minimizing bodily harm.

New to Aikido? Don’t worry. We are here to support your mental and physical goals, and will guide you through the steps and exercises.

We invite you to experience the power of Aikido.

Self Defense for everyone

We practice the Yoshinkan style of Aikido. You will perform exercises to strengthen your core and increase your agility and balance. During training, students learn to respond to attacks of punches, strikes, and grabs.

Power that is generated by a strong centerline (chūshin-ryoku) is greater than muscular strength. Because Aikido relies on harmonizing with an attacker, not on physical strength, it is an ideal martial art for people of all ages and fitness levels.

OUR MISSION

Aikido Del Mar is a nonprofit organization, dedicated to the health and welfare of our community by sharing the practice of Yoshinkan Aikido. Everyone is welcome. Other forms of Aikido, such as Aikikai, are respected and encouraged.

Our organization is run by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about creating a safe space for all people. When you train with us, you’ll feel genuine support and compassion.
